Bikes Belong
The Bikes Belong Coalition was formed in 1999 as the national coalition of bicycle retailers and suppliers working to put more people on bikes more often. U.S. bicycle companies recognized that they could accomplish more for bicycling by working together than by working independently. From helping create safe places to ride to promoting bicycling, we carefully select projects and partnerships that have the capacity to make a difference.
We want to make bicycling mainstream. Bicycling promotion is one way we work towards this goal. We talk to the press, share statistics, create publications, and conduct nationwide ad campaigns. In addition, we provide photos and materials to help others promote bicycling.
Bikes Belong forges strategic partnerships to broaden our strength and influence. We align with national groups and initiatives that have the greatest potential to get more people riding bikes.
From supporting programs that make communities safer for cycling to sponsoring national bicycling conferences, we focus our efforts on programs that work. The League of American Bicyclists, International Mountain Bicycling Association, the Alliance for Biking and Walking, and National Complete Streets Coalition are just some of the national groups we fund. In addition, we’re the host for the Safe Routes to School National Partnership, a growing coalition of more than 500 other groups.
