Giant Twist Series

New at Velo is the Giant Twist Express, their new Hybrid Cycling Technology is a new way to ride farther, faster and with greater ease. It's a cutting-edge, intelligent power system that seamlessly blends human pedaling power with battery-fueled electric power. All it takes is to begin pedaling and the hidden PedalPlus power sensor precisely registers the amount of force you're applying to the pedals and sends it to the I2 driver unit where it determines how much electric power to provide. These bikes are not electric, and are different in that they will only provide power as long as the rider is pedaling; the unit will stop working when the rider coasts. The EnergyPak lithium-ion batteries are one-third the weight of traditional batteries and offer far greater range - about 70 miles (two batteries in Economy mode). The batteries slip conveniently into integrated panniers. An included SmartCharger automatically determines how long you have to charge the EnergyPak. A full charge takes about four hours, half the time of traditional batteries.

Imagine the possibilities; some people want to ride without struggling up hills. Some like the idea of a work commute without puddles of sweat. Hybrid Cycling Technology breaks down these barriers, making it easier, and more fun, for anyone to ride. One try is all it takes to understand the truly unique experience of Hybrid Cycling Technology. It's a smart, innovative new way to respect the planet -- and have fun doing so.

Each of the Velo employees has given this bike a ride, and here are some things we thought:

  • Jamie: "I want to get one of these for my Granny for her birthday, cause then she can come with us when we go riding; otherwise, there is no way she could make it up these hills."
  • Michelle: "This would be perfect for mom, it might convince her to ride."
